Boost Up Your Shakeology Like NEVER BEFORE!

Guys, THIS STUFF is seriously my JAM right now!!

I have officially kicked my afternoon cup of joe habit and traded↔ it for a much healthier alternative with one tiny scoop of Focused Energy.

It's got a natural blend of caffeine from Guarana and Green Tea to give me a longer lasting boost of energy without the crash and acidity of coffee.  Aaaaand since I've been lagging on those veggies lately I threw in a scoop of Power Greens too!

It's got 1 full serving of veggies like cucumber, kale and spinach in one itty bitty scoop that also helps supports the bodies natural acid/alkaline balance!

Seriously though, THIS beats the drive thru ANY DAY!!

New Month, New Goals, New Intentions...Hello September!

With the NEW MONTH I felt it appropriate to officially start #Cize today.
It has been sitting there calling my name and trying to tell me to get my crap together and
JUST DO IT ALREADY!!!

So here ya go! Day 1, week 1 of Cize!!

Summer fun had me off track a bit with my workouts and nutrition.
Nothing outrageous, lifestyle change remember...but it's time to get those goals in line again.

Not going to lie but my time management has sucked since my little girl started Kinder 3 weeks ago.

My stress, and anxiety have returned.
We are late to almost everything, running around, looking for a shoe, bag or whatever..
Not only was it effecting me and my day but it was rippling into the kids and their mood as well.
Our home looked and felt like a hurricane had come through it.
Emotions and all...that is not good!

Here I was getting upset that my kids were just mimicking the same emotions I was showing.
Snarky attitudes, smacking of the lips and the infamous eye roll...
I am the master of the eye roll after all....

It's not easy to admit.

Obviously I'm not proud either.

The truth is the anxiety and bouts of depression don't ever really goes away,
at least not for me, not yet.

YES, Exercise has helped tremendously and Personal Development has been essential in my journey
but ACCOUNTABILITY was lacking big time this Summer.

I was skipping days in my Personal Development, just like I was skipping workouts
It's no different than cheating on your nutrition plan...

So many day to day things we take for granted that I DECIDED to put away my distractions, set aside my frustrations and basically OWN IT!!

I NEED TO OWN MY TIME and where it's going!

It's not just ME who I am letting down, that ripples into my family....to give them the BEST of me, I need to take care of me, physically and spiritually.

To do that I NEED TO MAKE TIME and NOT EXCUSES.

Does this sound a bit familiar?

If you have time to farm and crush candy, scroll Facebook, and get into arguments in the comment section with strangers then you have time to dedicate it to you, your family and your goals.

AM I RIGHT?!

We ALL have 24 hours...so if you've hit a bump, found some distractions along the way ( squirrel ) or just can't "find the time"...then its time to re-evaluate your priorities and adjust accordingly.

I DID! and so can YOU!

Hello September!!! I've been waiting for you!!!

New Month
New Goals
New Intentions

BRING IT!!!

Weekly Meal Prep and Meal Plan

I am SO happy I made it to Costco yesterday!!

After my hubby got called into work on Sunday  (his only day off of work) we decided to use the opportunity to take a little mini trip and stayed in the  Hotel with HIM for the night.

The commute would have been a total drag for him since it was a 2 day job so his boss was kind enough to get him a Room for the night in a nice HOTEL ....

So i packed up some healthy snacks, mostly fruit and veggies and plenty of water to take with us.

The kids got a kick of staying somewhere new and a new take on Hide and Seek in a HOTEL ROOM...lol  and mama got to enjoy the delicious complimentary breakfast and pool!

I also took advantage of Beachbody's On Demand and still nailed my workout so I can be right there in the trenches with my Challengers!!!

Since Sunday and Monday morning were spent living the Hotel life I hit up Costco after the drive home and did a little meal prep while I whipped up Dinner!

Steak Fajitas for the WIN!!! This my hubby's plate btw...I skipped Dinner and had my Shakeology instead.  I'm saving this for TODAY!

I grilled the veggies with a little coconut oil, barely a teaspoon and then used 1 whole lime as I grilled the steak, added some steak seasoning and that was it!  A little avocado and you got a great meal in minutes!!

I also picked up a Rotisserie Chicken for salads, sandwiches, tacos or to mix with eggs & veggies in the morning for breakfast quick and on the go!

I sliced up the other halves of the bell peppers for easy grab and go during the week to throw in a salad, snack on or just sautee with our Dinners later this week.

I am feeling so accomplished and ready to rock it and so are my CHALLENGERS who started THIS WEEK!

Need a little help setting your meal plan up? Try google sheets! I use it and LOVE IT!!

Here is a copy of my meal plan for the week for Inspiration on creating your own.

Tostada Salad With or Without the Shell

Mmmm...Get it ma belly!
I introduce you too one of my all time favorites homemade creations!

So easy to make I promise!

I have made a few times already and it's perfect because everyone is happy.

The kids and my hubby eat this with the shell or sometimes in burritos or those already made taco shells.

Instead of feeding my carb-aholic tendencies I ALWAYS opt for the salad version on Taco Night!

What you will need:

Lettuce
Tomatoes
Onions
Brown Rice
Black Beans
Ground Turkey I used 3lbs and cooked with taco seasoning (of your choice)
Greek Yogurt
Shredded cheese
Avocado
Hot Sauce

Optional:
Flour or Wheat Tortilla
Foil
Oven Safe Bowl

Directions:

Start by cooking your meat, nothing fancy here.  I typically throw in some garlic, some onion and use Taco Seasoning for this particular recipe.

While your meat is cooking you'll start my by turning that oven on to about 350 degrees.  Take your medium or large sized tortilla and lightly dampen it with a little water just to so it won't tear.

If you do not have an oven safe bowl then you can use foil and just use the bowl to help you mold it.

l Place the Tortilla over it creating and umbrella over the foil or the upside down bowl and
place on a cookie sheet and into the oven for about 8-10 minutes.

I just keep an eye on it and pull them out when they're a golden brown.
Once done I remove and let it cool for a bit and....load it up!!!

With or Without the Tostada shell this is still absolutely DELISH!!

And YES this is 21 Day Fix Approved!!

The portions you see above are 1 Red, 2 Green, 1 Blue, and 2 Yellow OR skip the shell to save yourself a yellow container ;)

NOTE: I split my containers so I can a little bit of everything in my salad.  Avo and Cheese in my blue container and rice and black beans in my yellow.

Hope you enjoy!!

Don't forget to share the love or tag me on Facebook or Instagram if you give this bad boy a try.

Zucchini Spaghetti

SPAGHETTI...

an all time favorite am I right?

But all that pasta has my like....

but it's so dang good that you can't just do with one plate.
Which is BAD for this carb-aholic!

So I gave this bad boy a little face lift around here and it is a big hit!!!

I first swapped out the ground beef for ground turkey a few years a go and switched
to wheat pasta but now that I started shopping regularly at Costco I have moved onto some organic sauce, pasta and zucchini and to replace my noodles.

The family loves it, I do too!
Especially swapping out the noddles for Zucchini noodles instead.

I found this great little tool at Walmart for like $15 called the Vegettie!
I flipping love this little guy!

So easy to use and I actually had the idea to take a shredder to some carrots...also organic ;)
Seriously this would be even more delicious with some mushrooms and even celery!
On my list for next time for sure.

Here is what you'll need to recreate this:

Spaghetti Noodles
Spaghetti Sauce
Ground Turkey
Onions
Garlic
Tomato
Zucchini
Vegettie or cheese shredder even peeler can work
Coconut Oil
Any other Veggies of choice

Directions:

Easy Peasy Dolls, start cooking your ground turkey or beef.
This is where I add the garlic, fresh, powder, in a jar whatever you got. I dice some onions slices very finely and sprinkle them in there too for some added flavor.

The spaghetti sauce I use is also from Costco.
Feel free to make your own homemade but this is a huge time saver for this mama!

This is where you can choose to cook either noodles or use the Vegettie to make come Zoodles!
I use about 1tsp of coconut oil on a warm skillet and saute the zoodles for a few minutes.
Not too long, i don't want them to get too soft.
This is where I took a cheese shredder and shredded some carrots.
Seriously like 5 minutes or so.

That's it guys, once your meat is done, add the sauce & bring to a low simmer.
I place it on top of the noodles or zoodles and literally lick my plate clean each time!

Hope you enjoy! Please like, comment and share the love!

Don't forget to tag me on Instagram or Facebook if you decide to try this out.

I promise it'll be delish!

ENJOY!

My 5 De Mayo Survival Guide

Happy 5 De Mayo Everyone!!! Who is going out to celebrate tonight? Not this girl...lol

Unfortunately for me my hubby has an extra long day at work which means we won't be out celebrating tonight (blessing in disguise really)

That doesn't mean that we won't be enjoying a good ol Mexican Dish!

For us it's just another Tuesday night around here...lol

My BEST TIP:

If at ALL possible, MAKE YOUR OWN MEALS!
It's the only way you can control the ingredients and portions.

Here are a few of my favorite healthy options:

  1. Ceviche!
  2. Fajitas with no sour cream. Load up on chicken (or steak if you must) with peppers, onions, guacamole, black beans & salsa. All of these are so good for you! (you can add brown rice tortillas too)
  3. Salmon or Shrimp Salad with Salsa
  4. Chicken with rice & black beans

These are my just a few of my favorite recipes!  YES, ALL HOMEMADE!

Steak Fajitas! They're a family favorite and Easy to make! Chop, grill and Eat!
You can use tortillas, lettuce to cut out some carbs or throw it all in a bowl and have a salad!
The options are endless!!

Tell me that Salad doesn't look good?  See...LITERALLY just throw it ALL in a bowl and BOOM!! Mexican Salad!
(Greek Yogurt is a great substitute for sour cream ;)

These are also a big hit! No need for a tortilla and you don't have to feel guilty about paring them beans and rice!

Craving a little crunch?
Try this lighter take on Taquitos with Guacamole!
You can enjoy them with a side salad or beans and rice or quinoa.

Shrimp OR Lobster Ceviche andyone?

When you have a diver in the family having lobster on hand is a major perk ;)
I used little won ton wrappers for this particular recipe here.

If you MUST eat out out then keep it simple and just plan ahead!!!

Most restaurants have their menu, calorie information and macro nutrients on their website, look them up, search myfitnesspal or just call the restaurant if you must but no matter what get that workout in, go hard and earn that dang Margarita!!

Try to avoid or have in MODERATION

  • Chips- lots of saturated fat that goes straight to your tummy!
  • Sour cream… same as chips!
  • Heavy cheese dishes! Greasy and guaranteed to weigh you down… so eat your cheese in moderation.
  • Really sugary Margaritas. Ask them to stay light on the sour mix and ask for extra limes and on the the rocks.

I hope these tips and meal ideas helped! If so please leave a comment, and share <3

Change Your Perspective and Change Your Life

This past Sunday we spent the day on a Dive Boat.
My hubby had 2 students who needed to finish their certification before their trip to Tahiti.
The women was the most kindest and thoughtful woman I have met.

She was so grateful that Oscar puts so much of his time, patience and passion into his students.
She had so many wonderful things to say that all I could do was break into tears after our conversation.  There has been some heartbreaking things going on in the lives of some of our family and friends that an overwhelming amount of guilt rushed over me.

There was a time when I took ALL I had for granted and in that moment my heart broke, not for me but for them.  Their story is not mine to share but I pray daily for God to give them strength to make it through their current struggle. Little do they know how much they inspire me with their courage.

Two years ago I was in a place in my life where I just thought "This is it? This is my life?"
Becoming a mom was one of the greatest gifts that could have been given to me but it came at a price that I didn't expect...losing myself...I felt like I had given up everything about me so that I could be a wife and a mom...I left my job, we moved 50 miles away from friends and family so we could make it all work. The dream of being home with my babies as a stay at home mom was turning into a nightmare. As the weeks and months and years passed I no longer recognized the woman staring back at me in the mirror. She was bitter, jealous and the anxiety and stress I felt just to run a simple errand with two little ones in toe would make me sick to my stomach...literally. Days would pass where I would barely say a word to my husband until one day it just felt like it was coming to an end.

The thought of breaking up our little family was the catalyst to my change in lifestyle.
The "old" Marianna looked to food and alcohol for comfort. I would spend hours surfing on line or watching TV and feeding the very thing that was causing me all my problems and insecurities.
My husband wasn't the problem, neither were my kids...The REAL person I was angry with was myself...for not fighting for my family sooner.  My husband dealt with the stress by putting his passion into something he loved...Scuba!

I resented him so much for this. He was off having fun and I was home with two kids, it's not that he left me behind....I could have joined him anytime but I CHOSE NOT TO...the reason, the REAL reason was because I did not feel comfortable in my own body and it my own physical capabilities to put myself through the stress and what I was sure to be utter humiliation.

I realized how badly I was heading down the wrong path...So I evaluated the pros and cons of my current situation and made a plan to fix it...MY FAMILY WAS WORTH ME FIXING! If being 80lbs overweight is what was keeping me from really LIVING then I needed to change my lifestyle and SO I DID!

Here I am 65lbs healthier, fitter and a certified Rescue Diver <<-- that's right, I got the skillz to save a life if need be. Not that I ever want to use those skills if you know what I mean ;)  The sport that I once was jealous of for taking my husband's time, love and money..lol Is now one of my favorite Hobbies and something we get to SHARE TOGETHER.

I always dreamed of having a loving husband, children and just living life so passionately that everything you do is an adventure. I ALMOST let it get away, and I thank God everyday for giving me strength when I needed it, and hope when I would lose it because I would not change my life now for anything in the world.

Stop living a nightmare of poor health, unhealthy relationships and a negative mindset.
No one will change your life for you except YOU.
It doesn't happen overnight but it will happen.
You just have to fight for it and never lose sight of your goal!
