Thanksgiving Survival Guide

Thanksgiving is today and I want to help you navigate the day without
gaining a gazillion pounds or back tracking on any progress you have made!

Here are my TOP 5 Tips to Survive Turkey Day .

1. Get out and Move! Don’t forget to get your workout in! I’ll be getting my workout in nice and early! ;) Or sign up for a Turkey Trot, or play a game of family football (as kids our family would put together Adults vs young adults soccer matches)… or whatever you’re into

2. Don’t forget to EAT breakfast!!! Don’t think your doing yourself any favors by “saving” your calories for the big meal! By starving yourself you’re more likely to overeat! Just make sure you eat a healthy breakfast!
3. If you’re indulging in some family favorites and traditions like we are (mmm...tamales...) then watch your portions!! Just take a small scoop and keep on  moving!
4. If you’re in charge of cooking  make some healthy swaps. This will help save calories and will help you know that at least one dish served has been made a little healthier!

5. Drink your WATER!!! Don’t forget to drink it up!! This will help you feel full faster!
When you’re FULL… STOP!!! Fight the urge to overeat!!! Don’ drink your calories!
A cup of egg nog, a glass of punch, or if you drink a glass of wine/alcohol can add hundreds
of calories and no benefits to helping you feel full …just empty calories!

Load your plate with mostly white turkey meat and fresh veggies!!

Be SMART!! Stick with the obvious wiser choices.

Dark Meat 4oz with Canned Jellied Sauce
White Meat 4oz with 2 Tbsp Homemade Cranberry Sauce.

Although dark meat is actually not too bad for you, sticking with white meat is just a good way to save some fat and calories. So the winner is White Meat! and stick with homemade cranberry sauce over super processed canned cranberries.

Mashed Potatoes & Gravy Vs. Candied Sweet Potatoes

Generally Sweet Potatoes would win out in a match up such as this, but on Thanksgiving when they’re loaded up with sugar and marshmallows you’re better to stick with that good ol Mash and Gravy!

Green Bean Casserole Vs. Stuffing

You might want to steer clear of both to be honest,
but the least naughty of the two and the winner of this battle is Green Bean Casserole.
Corn Bread with Butter Vs. Dinner Roll with Butter

The extra kick of sugar in corn bread makes it the loser in this match up.
The Winner… stick with the Dinner Roll and Butter

Pumpkin Pie Vs. Pecan Pie
Don’t be tricked by the “nuts are so healthy for you” craze that’s going down right now! Although Pecans are good for you the mass amounts of Corn Syrup make pecan pie a LOSER! Stick with Pumpkin Pie and you’ll fair much better if you’re going indulge in dessert!

Above ALL just remember that if you do over indulge don’t beat yourself up!
Get right back into it the next day… Don’t stretch it out into an extended stay of gluttony ;)

Hope you have an AMAZING Thanksgiving!!!

21 Day Fix Round 2 Final Results

I know I have been putting off this post off for what seems like forever.
To be real honest I had rough 3rd week finsihing out the Fix with Halloween goodies in my house.  I buckled down the last couple of weeks and felt it was worth sharing not just my 21 Day Fix results but also share my progress thus far since I started my journey back in November 2013

I took the middle photo 2 weeks ago. I have lost a total of 62lbs and God knows how many inches.  From a tight fitting size 18 to a size 8 now and shrinking.   It has been the hardest thing I have ever had to do.  I've had to make difficult decisions not just when it comes to food and exercise but also with the company I keep... I'm so blessed to have found supportive and loving friends along this journey, not just my Beahcbody Family.

Being so honest about my struggles has left the door open for strangers, friends and even family to try to knock me down, to my face, behind my back...doesn't matter how...but ultimately it's
YOU that has to make the decision to keep going
EVERY SINGLE DAY!!  and the sooner you realize this the better!

I lost a total of 6lbs on this second round of the 21 Day Fix and finally broke my plateau.
I've been bouncing around in the 160's for months...168, 165, 163, ugh so frustrating at times.
Up and down, up and down.   I'm the type that has to follow her meal plan to a T to see and feel the progress.  One cheat can throw me off real quick.  The biggest reason I Love the fix so much is it allows for structure while also being flexible and sensible when it comes to 'treats'.  These are my results after my second round.  Which I have to admit, week 3 was not a good week with my food choices.  I started to feel a little over confident and slacked off a bit.

My starting weight was 164lbs give or and I finished the 3rd week at 158lbs.  I lost about 2 inches in my waist .  Again not much of a difference in my arms and legs this time inches...But the amount of muscle I put on my legs and the definition is INCREDIBLE thus far!!
I don't know whether to thank Autumn or Chalene because I have been doing PiYo 2-3 times a week because I also teach this format.

All I know is my legs have NEVER looked this good and this CUT before.  I have NEVER been this FIT and I have NEVER been this COMMITTED to my goals.  Yes, I still have weight to loose, about 20lbs give or take and it's all in what seems like my mid section.  Do I dwell on it? Why the heck would I? I love the progress I am seeing and while yes i have loose skin, belly fat and stretch marks I also know that more consistent and the more I challenge myself both physically and mentally the better off I am...Abs or no Abs t I'm still in a much better place these days.

Mind, Body and Spirit <3

I hope my words helped shine some light your way.  If you're struggling with your own weight or need help and direction or just some Accountability then contact me! Let's connect and make your dreams a reality.

Remember, it's not about being better than anyone. It's about working towards your goals and your happiness while learning to enjoy the journey there.

Kickstart the New Year with a Healthier You!

The toughest days of the year when it comes to proper nutrition and exercise are the 3 weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas! You're not going to let those days get the best of you, right? Why take two steps backwards?

I'm not saying that you can't have your favorite holiday goodies but what I am saying is what goals do you have for yourself? Don't hold yourself back from accomplishing them...or wait for the "New Year" to do something about it.

Let go of the excuses and Kick-start the New Year NOW!!

There is enough on our plate and with the holidays it adds to the daily stresses.
Gifts to buy, parties to attend and with stress we tend to cut back on taking time for ourselves such as exercise and eating right. This makes you less patient, gives you less energy.

So the best thing is to do something NOW not wait until the new year.
Do something that will restore you, your creativity, your energy, patience and your body.

Lets get results over the holidays, and commit to taking care of yourself so you can commit to taking care of other people. If there was ever a time to push a little harder and show a little more discipline into your life it's RIGHT NOW! Have a plan, and be realistic about this by knowing that other things will be landing on your plate as we move into the holidays.

I'm in the best shape of my life NOW and I'm not going to let the holidays ruin any if it.
I have a new kick start program that includes two important components and it the reason I look and feel the way I do! This bundle includes fitness, proper nutrition and personal support.

Join me with a group of 5-10 people who are taking their goals for 2015 and making then happen NOW and give yourself the gift a healthier you this Christmas with the Kick-Starter Challenge Pack

We are kick-starting this challenge with the 3 day refresh to clean out all the
Thanksgiving junk and  with the refresh being so fast and simple it can jump start you
to see and feel the changes within the first few days so keep you motivated and engaged.

You will follow a 60 day program PiYO, that delivers cardio and strength training results AND flexibility with just your body weight! Believe me, your body is craving this!!

New to fitness? No problem, modifiers and an "how to" video for form are really handy! Plus you'll be working with a certified Piyo Instructor...yours truly ;)

For the fitness buff or someone with regular injuries, chronic pains, shoulder, knee, feeling beat up a bit, or even hit a plateau or feel like you can continue to go harder, this can be for you too! You're body is craving restoration.

What about nutrition you ask?

Shakeology, Your health is the best investment you can ever make into yourself. NUTRIENTS is the BACK BONE and FOUNDATION of your health.

Where I am today is BECAUSE of the daily superfoods, probiotics, enzymes, nutrients and consistency over TIME. IT IS NOT A PROTEIN SHAKE. LOL!!

I can't think of anyone who wouldn't benefit from this and see amazing results.
If you're ready for this New Adventure  please RSVP HERE and we can get to chatting about your goals!

Turning Fear into Courage

I've been putting in some more time out in the ocean lately, I joke and say it's to earn my Cheat Meal  afterwards but the reality is, I LOVE IT!

This has become my favorite thing do for a "date" with my husband.
Just two years ago I would have scoffed at the idea of me joining my husband on one if his dives.  That scoff, in reality was just silent cry of fear...

There's a funny thing about Fear. We all have felt it at some point in our lives.
We're all taught from a young age that Fear means something Dangerous.
But that is not always the case.   Fear is not real, it is a product of the thoughts you create.
Don't misunderstand me, Danger is very real, but Fear is a choice.

Sometimes it's Fear that can serve as your compass and
steer you in the direction where you need to grow.

Little did I know how much I, WE needed to grow...

A couple years ago my husband had this 'crazy' idea for us to get certified together as scuba divers. We were new parents and I had just left my job to stay home and raise our daughter...can you guess what my initial reaction was? It was not on board, but when my husband asked for the cert as Christmas gift I couldn't say no.  He's a loving, devoted & faithful husband and father. I love him.
But at the time I also began to hold onto a lot of anger and it began to turn into resentment.
It's not that he went on and did it without me, it's that I made him to it alone.  He tried to talk to me, reassure me that I had nothing to Fear....but my FEAR was bigger than I imagined.

I blamed my fear on the ocean..
But I knew deep down that thing I was really afraid of was coming to terms
with the fact that I was uncomfortable in my own body.

I was 70lbs overweight, I could barely make it up the flight of stairs in
our home without getting winded or much less
walk around the block without getting utterly exhausted.

I let FEAR control my emotions, and my actions.
I then let FEAR turn into resentment and anger towards my husband.
This and the added daily life struggles made for some scary, life shaking moments in our Marriage.

I thank God everyday for putting him in my life, he's not perfect, and neither am I.
But our love and commitment to on another and our family was enough to be open, honest and work towards finding a balance where we could both be happy.
He really is my rock, and I'm incredibly blessed to have  him by my side on this crazy ride.

I always talk about how Fitness saved my life, but I believe it was the FEAR I had of losing the most important thing in my life that gave me the COURAGE to accept it was time for a change.

My weight has been the hardest challenge I have faced in my entire life.  I have dealt with it since early childhood. I have put my mind, body and soul through Hell and back just looking for a way out of this cycle.  I know the desperation, I know the anger you feel inside when you look in the mirror and don't even recognize the person staring back at you.

Find your WHY, what makes you  wake up each morning to face the day
again, now let that be your driving force to  face your Fears, no matter how big or small they may be, your WHY will always be BIGGER <3

21 Day Fix Approved French Toast

Happy Saturday!

I know I've been a little late delivering those recipes I keep promising but
my #MommyDuties are TOP priority and it's been cray cray around here.

But look,  I woke up early on a Saturday to get this out to you,
see my ;)
I'm also taking my 30 Day Push Goals a little more seriously so if it requires to put
in some time on the weekend then so be it!
 This Mama has GOALS!!

I also owed it to my Challengers to get this out before
our next round of the Fix begins  this Monday.

This was DELICIOUS and I'm not just saying that.
Look it's not your Denny's or IHop but that stuff is kind of an over kill for me now anyways, and if I'm being honest it's just not worth that kind of a cheat for such a small craving.

It was yummy and i controlled the portions and ingredients.
It was also filling, satisfying and a new favorite! Yup and 21 Day Fix Approved Meal

For this meal I used 2 yellow, 1/2 Red, 1 Purple and 1 tsp.
I used 1 tsp of Pure Organic Maple Syrup,
but it's also really yummy with honey <3

What you will need:

2 slices of whole wheat or Organic bread
1 Egg
Cinnamon (optional)
1/2 banana
2-3 strawberries depending on size
Organic butter
Pure maple syrup or honey

  • Take 1/2 tsp butter and put on skillet at low heat
  • Crack and whisk your egg in a tupperware or bowl that will fit the bread
  • Optional to add cinnamon (I didn't)
  • Dip your bread into the egg and flip it over to coat both sides. (One Large egg was just enough for both slices of bread)
  • Place on skillet, before flipping add a little more butter to the skillet
  • Repeat and just add your sliced fruit when done.
I didn't add more butter only a tiny drizzle of pure maple syrup.
I took the leftover fruit my kids didn't finish and topped it off with that.

Hope you Enjoy!!
